The Blackhawk Squadron had its origin in 1941’s Military Comics, later spinning off into Modern Comics and Uncle Sam Quarterly. That latter series changed its name with issue#4 to Blackhawk.

My Brother, My Enemy is written by Bob Haney from a plot by Marv Wolfman with art by Pat Boyette. First appearance and origin of Black Mask. The Blackhawks return to their original Golden Age costumes, vehicles and tactics to face off against an enemy from Bart Hawk s haunted past. When the headquarters of international spy-busting organization G.E.O.R.G.E. is destroyed by a terrorist calling himself Black Mask, the Blackhawks know it s up to them to track down this new menace.

But soon Bart Hawk, leader of the Blackhawks, realizes that the super-criminal is making his attacks personal. Luring Bart to an isolated spot called Fort Fear, Black Mask confronts his pursuer. With horror, Blackhawk realizes that his foe is actually his brother Jack who he believed to be dead after World War II. Bitterness over Bart s seeming betrayal pushed Jack to the side of the Nazis and over the edge. Later, on Blackhawk Island the brothers face off against each other in a battle to the death!
